Are you celebrating Mother’s Day this weekend, hosting a brunch, or just wanting an easy meal idea to help make hosting a breeze? Well I have the easiest brunch idea for you! A make-your-own toast bar, where all you need to do is have some bread for toasting and a whole bunch of tasty toppings for people to choose from!
I grew up watching my mom have tomatoes and hummus on toast or avocado toast so many times. She was the original #toasttuesday queen in my mind. It would make sense that when Little Northern Bakehouse asked me to celebrate Mother’s Day using their gluten-free bread, I would celebrate with toasts! These toasts are inspired by both my mom and mom-in-law (and gluten free so she can enjoy them too!). My mom was also the one that taught me all about edible flowers, so pansies had to make an appearance!
A make-your-own toast bar needs to have lots of tasty toppings - spreads, sauces, fresh herbs, fruits and veggies. I have some of my favourite toppings below! If you do choose to include edible flowers (pansies, violas, johnny jump ups and so many more!) make sure they’re organic or buy directly from a grocery store in the food section, as commercial flowers are often sprayed with non-food grade pesticides that can be harmful.
Whether or not you’re celebrating Mother’s Day this weekend - lots of love to you all!
