Kind of on a salmon kick and a toast kick lately so I’m thinking why not combine the two!

This recipe has all the crunch factor that I love - richness from the ghee, freshness from the radishes & chives, and flaaavour-town from the salmon. Felt a little bit *extra* using chive blossoms, but you gotta make yourself feel special some days (correction: every day)!

I love incorporating some form of fat into my toast concoctions because otherwise it’s just dry toast! Probably why I love avocado toast so much… and hot buttered toast…. and THIS. Panfried salmon with ghee!

Last week my husband kindly told me I really needed to clean out the freezer as my frozen fruit (last year’s peaches?!) and other odds-and-ends kept preventing him from shutting the freezer door…


It’s a good thing frozen fish lasts in the freezer because that meant a forgotten fillet at the bottom of the freezer was redeemed and turned into a very delicious meal!

Pan Fried Wild Salmon Toasts with Radishes and Chive Blossoms

Serves 1-2 // Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Refined Sugar-Free & No Sugar Added


Toast ingredients

  • 1 -2 slices of whatever bread you like

  • 1 Tbs butter or ghee (or drizzle of olive oil)

  • 1 - 6oz wild sockeye salmon fillet

  • 1 Tbs avocado oil, or favourite high-heat cooking fat

  • sprinkle of salt and pepper

  • 1-2 radishes

Optional toppings:

  • chopped chives and flowers (optional)

  • fresh dill

  • sesame seeds


  1. Toast bread and slather it with ghee, butter, or a drizzle of olive oil.

  2. Take the salmon out of the package and blot dry with a towel, drizzle with avocado oil and brush to cover. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. Using a cast iron skillet, or your favourite skillet, heat over medium-low heat for about 3 minutes. Once the pan is warm add the avocado oil or cooking oil into the pan.

  4. Increase the heat to medium-high. Place the salmon fillet skin side down in the pan and press down firmly with a spatula so it comes into contact with the surface of the hot pan. Cook the salmon for about 3 minutes. Carefully turn salmon fillet over and cook for another 5 minutes. Salmon is cooked when it flakes easily. Remove salmon from pan.

  5. Slice radishes and top toast with salmon, radishes and chives, sesame seeds, and fresh dill if desired.

  6. Enjoy!
